Beast and Beauty

Updated: Aug 28, 2019

Here is a poem I have been working on for a Beauty and the Beast fairy tale retelling I am writing. It is rough (haven't worked out meter and such yet), but I thought it would be fun to post it. Some things in the poem might not make sense until you read my story, and I'll likely change some of it. But here it is for your previewing enjoyment!

When inward graces shine more bright

Than temporal outward faces,

And all things virtuous can unite

The goodness each embraces,

When true love harkens to the call

To ease the suffering heart,

And true love willingly takes the fall

That Magic did impart,

A deeper truth is then revealed

Than stewardship and duty.

When true love lets itself be healed

The Beast will find his Beauty.
